A fatal accident case that had gone unsolved for just over three months had a break in the case Tuesday night.
Authorities took 22-year-old Dacota Deaver into custody, and investigators believe Deaver was responsible for the accident that claimed the life of 44-year-old Cecilia Stanford.
The accident happened in October of 2017, Police at the time said Stanford was pushing her car after it broke down in Calallen that is when an SUV slammed into her from behind. Stanford was taken to the hospital where she passed away.
Deaver has been charged with manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide. He appeared in the 214th District Court Wednesday morning in front of Judge Inna Klein. Deaver was given a $100,000 bond and will have to wear and ankle monitor if he makes bail.
Stanford is the sister of Nueces County Clerk Kara Sands.
