Peppermint Lane Holiday Market returns to Downtown Corpus Christi

The market runs weekly on Sundays on North Chaparral Street until Dec. 17.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Sunday afternoons in downtown Corpus Christi will play host to all kinds of vendors and food this holiday season.

The Peppermint Lane Holiday Market runs weekly on North Chaparral Street until Dec. 17. There were 70 vendors and five food trucks this week.

For some vendors, selling at the market is a way to provide for their loved ones at home.

"I love doing it and it's important to me. I have a, a family that I take care of," said Trista Martin, owner of Trista's Southern Treats.

Martin is in her second year of selling at the Peppermint Lane Holiday Market. She sells homemade baked goods with a Christmas theme. At Trista's Southern Treats, customers can find cookies, cake bites, brownies and reindeer food.

"Everybody loves holiday baked goods," Martin said. "It makes you warm inside."

Martin was one of dozens of vendors set up on North Chaparral Street on Sunday. Crowds filled the streets to choose between food and custom goods for sale.

Patricia Scott, owner of Trishie Crafts, has been selling crocheted goods for about four years. She said holiday markets are the busiest time for her to sell.

"I sell more at these markets, like, just having everything out and then people just coming by to see," Scott said.

Scott prepares at least two months before to make sure she has enough to sell at markets. She usually makes beanies, purses and baby clothes—some of her best sellers. But about a year ago, she also started creating dolls.

She said the winter items are popular at different markets throughout the year.

"I'll sell stuff that in the summertime that's for winter and they'll still buy it. So, it's, it's really cool. I like these markets," Scott said.

With many customers coming back to buy from her every year, she said many of them become good friends. She explained her favorite part when people purchase something from Trishie Crafts.

"I really like watching them walk off wearing it or like they remember me from last year," Scott said.

Martin and Scott plan to keep selling on the remaining Sundays of the holiday market.
