Robstown scammer posing as chief of police over the phone

The scammer misleads residents, telling them they are victims of identity theft before asking for personal information to compare with their "records."

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A scammer is making calls to Robstown residents, posing as Chief of Police Mike Tamez.

The scammer tells residents they are victims of identity theft and that someone is using their information to commit crimes and then asking to compare your information with their records.

Police ask that you do not ever share any personal identifying information with this person, just hang up and report the call.
