Sen. Ted Cruz expected at Packery Channel completion ceremony in Coastal Bend Wednesday, state and local leaders

Along with Hurricane Harvey repairs, the Packery Channel will now offer free access to boaters between the Gulf and the Laguna Madre.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held Wednesday afternoon celebrating the opening of the Packery Channel Restoration Project.

U.S.  Senator Ted Cruz, Congressman Michael Cloud and State Senator Juan 'Chuy' Hinojosa will be there as well as State Representative Todd Hunter and Corpus Christi Councilmember Dan Suckley.

Funding for this project allowed for repairs to the area following severe damage caused by Hurricane Harvey in 2017.

Mayor Paulette Guajardo and City Manager Peter Zanoni will hold a press conference to talk about at Zahn Road at 1:30 p.m. The city says the community is invited to watch as they celebrate the completion of the project and celebrate what they are calling a major milestone in Corpus Christi’s coastal restoration, resilience and improvement.

Along with those improvements, Packery Channel will offer free access to boaters between the Gulf and the Laguna Madre.
