TAMU-Kingsville highlights enrollment accomplishments at 'State of the University' address Saturday

The university has seen an 8 per cent increase in enrollment, with over 70 per cent of those students coming from the area.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Texas A&M University Kingsville held their State of the University Saturday.

The event highlighted several of the university's accomplishments like enrollment growth and a record year in research funding.

The address was given by President Dr. Robert Vela Jr.

In the crowd was faculty, staff, students and community leaders.

Plans for the university's future educational expansions into healthcare professions was also announced.

"We're on fire we're doing some great things uh all in for our community and today we're gonna see the fruits of our labor and I think it's going to make our 'Javelina Nation' very proud."

The university saw an 8 per cent increase in enrollment.

Dr. Vela said 70 per cent of those students are from the Coastal Bend area.
