TCEQ public meeting to discuss desalination in city's Inner Harbor set for Thursday

After the meeting, TCEQ will write a response to all the formal comments and present it to their executive directors and commissioners.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality will host a public meeting Thursday about desalination for those with questions or concerns about the construction of the city of Corpus Christi’s proposed Inner Harbor Desalination Plant ay 7 p.m. American Bank Center.

The meeting will start with an informal question-and-answer forum moderated by TCEQ officials, and then additional information on desalination will be presented.

Corpus Christi Water officials told 3NEWS on Wednesday said they hope the meeting will serve to educate residents.

"We at CCW and the city of Corpus Christi are excited about the opportunity the TCEQ is having on April 18th to discuss the discharge permit that they have written and has put out for public comment,” said CCW Water Resource Manager Esteban Ramos. “We are excited to have that open first part of the meeting Q&A to make sure the community understands the truth on what happens in a seawater desalination facility."

After the meeting, TCEQ will write a response to all the formal comments and present it to their executive directors and commissioners.

They will then decide whether to grant, deny, or modify the permit.
