Highlights: Domingo Live! 60th Anniversary show at Buc Days

The show not only celebrated the longest-running Hispanic variety show in the U.S., but also the very people that make it and KIII a success: you, our viewers.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Miss the fun of our live 60th anniversary celebration at Buc Days?

No worries – grab some barbacoa and Big Red while we walk you through some of our favorite moments from our li'l pachanga!

Kicking the show off right

How else do we begin to celebrate a cultural landmark of a show but with cultura y comunidad right out the gate?

Alcorta's Compañia de Danza Folklórica and Mariachi Celestial joined us fresh out of the success of Friday's Inolvidable 2024 showcase to get us in spirits as high as those trumpet notes!

Honoring our roots

It all started 60 years ago with one man, his passion for Tejano music and his dedication to uplifting the Hispanic voices of South Texas. We honored him with a special video that shares his impact and how Domingo Live continues to carry his generous spirit.

Piggy dippin', dashin & racin'

Just one of the many fun stops you can make at Buc Days' Treasure Island in the Expo Hall! Races are held every hour. Will you use the gift of pork-sight to pick a winner?

Las Leyendas de Tejano Music

The title says it all: three of Tejano music's greatest and most iconic performers of all time, all in one interview as they discuss their partnership with the Domingo Show throughout the years.

The interview comes after performances of genre-defining classics by Sunny Ozuna, Carlos Guzman and Freddie Martinez, all accompanied by the big-band stylings of LA 45.

Mayoral Proclamation

When you turn a certain age, special things start happening. Like getting your own official day!

Mayor Paulette Guajardo gave KIII and Domingo Live the honor of a mayoral proclamation that both congratulated us for our 60 years in local news and officially dubbed May 5 as "KIII News Day" in Corpus Christi.

So while you celebrate Cinco de Mayo in the coming years, make sure to take an extra sip of your citrus-based beverage of choice in honor of "the South Texas Tradition." Mayor Guajardo said so.

Landlubbin' with Leslie

Our Leslie Adami put her sea legs to work as she explored all the exciting bits and bobs you can discover for yourself at Buc Days.

Whether it's the Vaquero exhibit at the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History or the daredevil-made-steel Kraken ride at the Stripes Carnival, Leslie embraced her Buccaneer spirit and left no waters uncharted!

Rodeo Concert Series headliner: La Mafia

That's right – not only did we pull Las Leyendas, LA 45, and former Domingo Show hosts Mike Chavez and Joseph Valdez for our 60th anniversary, we also scored an interview with the frontman of La Mafia, Oscar De la Rosa!

Fresh off their international Estas Tocando Fuego 2024 tour, La Mafia is set to bring their fieriest Tejano hits to the Buc Days Rodeo Concert Series' Día de Vaquero show on May 9th. Moreover, De la Rosa gave us an exclusive announcement about an upcoming mariachi project he has joined.

It's a mascot dance-off hoe-down!

Some of our favorite mascots from around the Coastal Bend joined us in a dance-off for the ages!

TAMU-CC's Izzy the Islander, Del Mar College's Valdar the Viking, TAMU-K's Porky, Corpus Christi Football Club's Sharky and Buc Days' ARRRtoro battled it out on the dancefloor to LA 45's "Recuerdos de la Cumbia." Who do you think won?

Propelling Tejano into the future with LA 45

LA 45 came in hot with the absolute juiciest of big-band Tejano jams throughout the celebration. Is it any wonder that they're taking their show on the road and out of state this year?

Hear all about their exciting plans for "LA 45-2024" here!

Last but not least... Known & Trusted for 60 years

There is no Domingo Live without KIII. And there is no KIII without the support of the community we dedicate ourselves to informing, inspiring and involving every day through our programming.

Thank you, South Texas, for allowing us into your homes for the last 60 years (with or without barbacoa).

May the next 60 be just as fun and filled with even more cultura, canciones y mucho comunidad!
