BEEVILLE, Texas — A longtime South Texas stalwart is calling it a career as Beeville ISD announced Thursday morning that Chris Soza is retiring.
Soza has been coaching for 39 years, the last 28 spent as a head coach. He went 200-125 over that span including stops in Mathis, Beeville (twice), Alice and Medina Valley. He reached the milestone and final victory in a bi-district upset of the Calallen Wildcats this past season.
His son, Eric Soza, was just hired as the new Rockport-Fulton head coach on Tuesday, meaning the Trojans' job is now open.
