Yelp ranks Austin as top city for women-owned businesses

Yelp's "She-conomy" report ranked Austin at the top of its list for 2023.

AUSTIN, Texas — Austin's business-friendly environment is on the rise for everyone.

A recent list from Yelp ranked Austin as the top city for women-owned businesses in 2023. The company's "She-conomy" report ranked Austin first over four other major U.S. cities: Miami, Washington, Denver and Orlando, Florida.

The report states that the number of women-owned businesses in Austin grew 34% between 2022 and 2023.

The report studied how trends created and popularized by women influence consumer behavior. The main categories that influenced the rankings are hotels and travel, professional services, home services, local services, education, active life and financial services. Women-owned businesses in the Austin metro area performed above average in all of those categories, according to the report.
