'Friendsgiving' event helping young adults with higher education or a new career

The Family Centered Educational Agency in Corpus Christi is hosting a pair of informational workshops for those looking to further their career/educational goals.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A group dedicated to helping young adults navigate challenges associated with life after high school is hosting a pair of information workshops with the theme of 'Friendsgiving.' The events are bring organized by the Family Centered Educational Agency and the TRIO Educational Opportunity Center in Corpus Christi.

The first is happening Friday, November 17 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Rudy's BBQ on the Southside. The Friday session is for high school seniors with each students allowed to bring along a guest for a free meal. The goal of the gathering to to help students with college applications, financial aid information and career exploration. 

Representatives from Texas A&M University Kingsville and Del Mar College's Continuing Education Program will serve as guest speakers and available to take questions from participants.

A second event will be held for adults from the community looking to go back to school or who may just need a little help kick-starting a career. This one happening Monday, November 20 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. also at Rudy's BBQ.

A representative from the Continuing Education Program at Del Mar College will also be on hand with any questions. Topics for discussion include goal planning and college applications to name a few. Both events are open to people in Nueces, Jim Wells and Duval Counties. You will need to RSVP using a QR Code in the flyers associated with this story.

The group uses it's funding to support education based serves like preparing students for college and help with tutoring. Services which are offered free of charge.
