Live Oak Co.: Woman dies after falling off motorcycle, run over by two semi-trailers and car on IH-37

The woman's motorcycle was lodged in the front of a car when she fell into traffic and was hit by a passenger car and two tractor-trailers.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — 25-year-old Kiran Olivia Sharma died Sunday night on IH-37 in Live Oak County after a car rear-ended her motorcycle, causing her to fall off into traffic and be hit by at least three different vehicles.

Sharma was traveling southbound on her motorcycle near mile marker 56 when she was hit from behind by a 28-year-old Sandia man driving a 1999 Ford Crown Victoria.

Upon impact, the motorcycle became lodged into the front of the Ford, causing the car to swerve between the inside and outside lanes before finally stopping near the MM 56 southbound exit ramp.

Sharma fell off her motorcycle while the Ford was in motion and landed on the roadway, where she was then hit by at least three other vehicles: one passenger car and two tractor-trailers.

Sharma was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford was not injured.

Investigators closed IH-37 to traffic as they worked to clear the scene, and it was reopened early Monday morning.

The crash is under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety. 3NEWS will update this story as new details emerge.
