Investigation underway in Bishop house fire that sent two to hospital Saturday afternoon

The Bishop Police Department said several area fire departments responded to the scene to assist with mutual aid to extinguish the blaze.

BISHOP, Texas — Several Coastal Bend area fire departments responded to a house fire that broke out in the 700 block of Thompson Drive, in Bishop around 4 p.m. Saturday.

The Bishop Police Department said everyone inside of the house was able to get out safely, but two residents were sent to a local hospital after being evaluated by EMS.  Police said their injuries were not life-threatening. 

The house was fully engulfed in flames when first responders arrived on scene. A call went out to surrounding fire departments requesting mutual aid. Several responded, and the fire was eventually extinguished. 

Bishop police said early Saturday evening that the scene was active and fire crews were working to extinguish hot spots inside of the house. The public is asked to avoid the are at this time. 

The exact cause and origin of the fire is currently under investigation.
