CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — On Tuesday fans across the Texas celebrated Selena Quintanilla's birthday. She would have been 53 years old.
One of the most iconic and legendary performers the world has ever seen holds a special place in our hearts in Corpus Christi as she called the city home for most of her life.
She reached astonishing success in her short life, and continues to be an inspiration to millions.
3NEWS caught up with some fans visiting the tejano star's statue on her birthday.
"I've always been in love with Selena," one visitor said. " I mean, she's a role model, you know she's everything to us, everything everything. So, I mean, today is a special day today she turns 53, so why not celebrate that special day for her?"
"I love her music and it's just so sad," another visitor said. "We just came from the museum as well, so it's so sad to see all of those memories and who she was and what a wonderful person she was."
