Crash in Sandia leads deputies to stolen vehicle

Once the two are caught, they will face charges of possession of stolen property and leaving the scene of an accident.

SANDIA, Texas — A two-car accident in Sandia, Texas, led police to a couple of suspected car thieves early Tuesday morning.

It happened just after 8 a.m. on Highway 359 near FM 70. Jim Wells County Sheriff's deputies said the driver of a stolen truck ran into someone else coming from the other direction.

The truck was reportedly stolen out of Nueces County.

Deputies said a man and woman were able to walk away from the accident uninjured and then gave deputies the slip before they could figure out the truck was stolen. However, deputies said they know who the man and woman are.

Once the two are caught, they will face charges of possession of stolen property and leaving the scene of an accident.
