CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Former Hamlin Middle School teacher Anthony Quintanilla was in court Thursday after a child-safety check revealed that his home of 26 years is located inside the 1000-ft. perimeter established by his probation.

Quintanilla pled guilty to charges of 11 counts of sexual assault of a child and two counts of having an improper relationship with a student in November.

His probation officer told the court Thursday that the former social-studies teacher has been compliant with the terms of the community-supervision agreement outlined at his sentencing, but that it later was discovered that his house is 26 ft. too close to a community park.

Judge Jack Pulcher decided Quintanilla could be allowed to stay in his home, but that he would need to change his route to and from home so that he doesn't drive directly alongside the park.

Quintanilla also asked the court to allow him Internet access in order to start a delivery service to be able to support himself financially.

The previous terms of his agreement ordered community supervision for 10 years, a $1,500 fine, and that he have no contact with children or the victim in this case.

Because unsupervised Internet access could violate the terms of his agreement, Pulcher agreed to letting him have access via RemoteCom, a company that provides Internet monitoring for the court system.

Quintanilla also requested the judge allow him to leave Nueces County and allow him to work past 9 p.m., which is past his previous curfew.

Pulcher ruled that once Quintanilla starts the business and being out of the county and out past 9 p.m. is necessary, the court will consider making those allowances.
