CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Students at Metro E School of Design will be playing tunes after they were given the gift of music through a very generous donation.
The 17 digital pianos totaling $29,000 were donated to the school by philanthropy group Puente de Maravillas.
Those new, professional-grade digital pianos will allow every music classroom to have an upgraded high-quality instrument for students to learn and practice on.
All of the pianos except for one will be used by students, while the 17th will be used by their instructor Marila Colunga who was so grateful for the gift to her and her students.
"I thought of it as Christmas morning, you know, they open up the keyboard and it was like 'Ooh look at all the buttons,'" Colunga said. "It was really sweet. My heart just melted."
Those musical upgrades also catching the attention of CCISD's Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez. He said the donation is sure to have a tremendously positive impact.
