Have you heard the 'Rumors'? Find out who's stirring the pot with drama at Del Mar College.

Del Mar Drama’s fall production: 'Rumors' starts this Friday, Nov. 10, for a two-weekend run: Friday and Saturday, Nov. 10-11, and Nov. 16-18.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Del Mar Drama’s fall production RUMORS is set in 1989 New York City with the glamour and glitz of the era. It is considered one of American playwright Neil Simon’s most popular titles.

Student actors Eddie Alejandre and Kimberly Porfirio hope the piece helps people escape from reality for a while as they enjoy this time-capsule of a production.

“That's what I love about theatre," Alejandre said. "Making people escape from reality just for a moment, just for these two hours, that's what I really enjoy."

This is the synopsis of the production: things aren’t what they seem when four prominent, successful couples arrive at the home of New York City’s deputy mayor and his wife, Charlie and Myra Brock, for a 10th wedding anniversary celebratory dinner party. They find Charlie wounded in bed. Myra is missing. And their marriage is not what it had appeared to be! The Brock’s invited guests conspire to get their stories straight before authorities arrive after their evening is riddled with minor catastrophes and mayhem.

"Honestly, I think our costumes speak for how chaotic and big this production is," Porfirio said.

Del Mar Drama’s fall production starts this Friday, Nov. 10, for a two-weekend run: Friday and Saturday, Nov. 10-11, and Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 16-18.

The Nov. 10 opening performance will feature a cash bar and post-production reception. Tickets are now on sale online and are available at the Drama Box Office one hour: 6:30 p.m. before curtain rises each date at 7:30 p.m. in the Sue Sellors Finley Theatre, located in the Fine Arts Center on the Heritage Campus - Ayers and Baldwin.

The production is rated PG-13 due to strong language.  Tickets are $10 general admission; $6 for seniors, military and DMC employees; and $3 for all students with a valid ID.
