Staying safe behind the wheel and steering clear of road rage

Following Thursday's Horne Road incident, in which one driver pulled a gun on another, DPS Sgt. Rob Mallory spoke with 3NEWS about how drivers can stay safe.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — This past Thursday's road rage shooting near Horne Rad and Naples Street ended when police say one man pulled a gun and shot at another driver's front hood.

CCPD said that 22-year-old Aaron Jasso remains in the Nueces County jail on a $125 thousand-dollar bond for that shooting.

3NEWS spoke with DPS Sgt. Rob Mallory, who has a word for anyone who may find themselves dealing with someone with road rage.

"If someone else is driving aggressive, speeding, passing cutting in and out of traffic, back away from them let them go away if their driving is a problem. By all means, report that but at the end of the day you don't necessarily need to be around them you can just slow down. Get where you need to go."

Mallory told 3NEWS that he is available seven days a week to speak to folks across South Texas so that he can get the message out about road rage safety and other items that may be of concern.

You can contact Sgt. Mallory through email at harold.mallory@dps.texas.gov.  You can also call him at 361-648-4085.
