Sinton Chamber of Commerce names new president, CEO

Sinton grad, Estevan Guerra, looks forward to bringing his experience from Disney, Visit Corpus Christi and Del Mar College to the position in his hometown.

SINTON, Texas — It's no secret that San Patricio County has been at the center of booming growth lately, with several companies choosing to take their business there.

Now, a new name, but a familiar face will be working to encourage more businesses to be part of that boom in the community of Sinton.

Estevan Guerra is a Sinton High School graduate who is returning to his hometown as the new president and CEO of the Sinton Chamber of Commerce

"It's full circle. I'm so thrilled to be coming back to my hometown to do this!" said Guerra, who is bringing prior experience working for the Disney company, Del Mar College and Visit Corpus Christi Visitor Services to the position.

"Now I get to come back and do it for the Pirates in Sinton, Texas," he said. "So, I'm so excited to have that moment!"

3NEWS met with Guerra at the Marigold Boutique/Girly Bling Bling, located in downtown Sinton: a main street lined with buildings that tell a story of a community that has seen several changes over the decades.

The boutique, one of several in the area, bringing new life to the historic downtown. Guerra says it will be important to have and maintain relationships with the business owners there to better work together in encouraging more to call Sinton "home" and to create even more experiences for residents already there.

"The biggest thing that we're doing right now, that I want to do, is make sure that we retain those members, and then on top of that, we want to make sure that we're also bringing in new experiences for our residents and those coming in."

Among the new businesses making their way to Sinton include: Tractor Supply Company, a new Stripes as you're leaving town, as well as featuring fellow local businesses from Corpus Christi, such as Whitecap Watch Company.

"With that big boom, that means people are going to be coming to visit our small town with a big heart, and I want to make sure that we have things available for them to say: we have to go back to Sinton, Texas!"

There will be a meet and greet event at the Marigold Boutique for residents and fellow business owners to meet with Guerra on Monday, Jan. 29 from 4-7p.m. Attendees are asked to RSVP by the 24th to 361-364-1313 or info.sintonchamber@gmail.com
