Shamrock Shakes making an early return to McDonald's

One of the most recognizable holiday treats at McDonald's is making its return.

WASHINGTON — McDonald's is bringing back one of its fan-favorite seasonal offerings much earlier than it has in the past.

Both the Shamrock Shake and OREO Shamrock McFlurry are returning to participating locations nationwide starting Monday, Feb. 5, for a limited time, according to the fast food giant

That's more than two weeks ahead of the Shamrock Shake's return in 2023 and 2022, which came on Feb. 20 and Feb. 21, respectively.

Made with creamy vanilla soft serve, blended with Shamrock Shake syrup and topped with whipped topping, McDonald's first introduced the iconic green shake in 1970.

In 2020, as part of a celebration of the shake's 50th anniversary, McDonald’s put a twist on this delicious classic with the OREO Shamrock McFlurry. The McFlurry is served blended with crushed OREO cookies.

The Shamrock Shake and OREO Shamrock McFlurry will be available at McDonald’s restaurants nationwide for a limited time, while supplies last.

When is St. Patrick's Day?

St. Patrick's Day this year is Sunday, March 17, 2024. That's nearly 6 weeks from when the Shamrock Shakes are returning to the menu lineup at McDonald's.

Last month, McDonald's announced it was bringing back the popular Double Big Mac, an expanded version of its already massive Big Mac.

It's been nearly four years since McDonald's put the Double Big Mac on its menu. The new version will feature more of the special sauce, along with softer buns and a better sear on the beef patties, thanks to recent adjustments to the grill settings, the fast food franchise said.

According to CNN, McDonald's has sold different versions of the Big Mac in the past. The Grand Mac, which came out in 2017, used larger patties and a bigger bun, while the Mac Jr., released in 2018, was a downsized version of the original burger.
