CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi- Nueces County Public Health District is offering free health screenings and flu clinics from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Friday at 1702 Horne Road.
The free screenings will give community members a glimpse at their overall health, offering to check on their cholesterol, blood sugar and muscle mass stats. Annual flu vaccinations will also be available.
Public Health Director Fauzia Khan said this is a way for residents to know their numbers and to take control of their health, especially when flu cases are on the rise in Corpus Christi.
"We have seen an increase in flu cases after the holidays," Khan said. "This is a trend that has been happening in all of South Texas because people are more closer in winter and during holiday seasons so the spread of flu was high."
Khan also said health educators will be on site to give guidance on dietary options to take steps toward healthier living in the Coastal Bend.
No identification or appointment is necessary to receive the screening.
