Friday marks 38th anniversary of Gillette couple found murdered in their home just days before Christmas

Gary and Stephanie Gillette were found murdered in their home on Sweetbriar Circle on Dec. 15, 1985. Detectives are now offering up to $5,000 for key information.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Friday marks the 38th anniversary of a high-profile murder case that dominated local headlines in the 1980's.  Gary and Stephanie Gillette were found murdered in their home in the 4800 block of Sweetbriar Circle on Dec. 15, 1985. The couple was killed in their home as they slept. Autopsy reports state they were stabbed numerous times with a knife and a hatchet.

The Corpus Christi Police Department took to social media earlier this week asking community members to step forward if they have any knowledge of the decades-old crime.

The department posted a ten-minute video featuring interviews with the couple's daughters advocating for their deceased parents and pleading for closure.

In the caption, police said Gary’s three daughters have never stopped looking for answers to help ease the pain of not knowing who took their father and stepmother from them. According to CCPD Homicide Detectives, the department has made notable strides toward identifying the suspect or suspects who committed this crime but are still seeking key information that will bring the case to a close.

If you have information that you believe could be helpful to solving this case, CCPD asks you to please call Detective Justin Wicks at 361-826-4082 or Detective Krystal Rodriguez at 361-886-2843. Callers wishing to remain anonymous can earn up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in this case by calling CrimeStoppers at 361-888-TIPS.
